WindPower 2009 Day Two

It's day two of WindPower 2009 in Chicago and one conclusion I've already come to: The McCormick Center is by far the biggest convention center I have ever seen (and I've been to a LOT of energy conferences in the past year)! Yesterday, Denise Bode of AWEA told me the convention was originally supposed to happen in Minneapolis, but because of the amount of people registered, they had to change it to a bigger location, which happened to be in the Windy City itself. So far, WindPower 2009 has seen almost 21,000 attendees!

This morning Susan reported live from the exhibition center for The Morning Report. She brought everyone up to speed on the goings on with WindPower 2009 so far. Siemens made a major announcement yesterday that it will build a wind turbine manufacturing plant in Hutchinson, Kansas that will create 400 new jobs. We spoke with Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson about the new plant and he is hopeful that its just the beginning for more wind in Kansas. We also spoke with several of the Governors that participated in the opening round table session, including Gov. Chet Culver of Iowa, Gov. Jim Doyle of Wisconsin, and Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio. You can watch all of these interviews very soon on www.cleanskies.tv.

We're gearing up for another big day here in Chicago. Susan is preparing for interviews with T. Boone Pickens, General Wesley Clark, Ditlev Engel of Vestas, and Vic Abate of GE. We'll keep you posted and send along some pictures! Check out some of the pics now on our Facebook page!
